Biography

Yousef Alshereedah is a bilingual Kuwaiti national associate.

Yousef possesses a diverse and multijurisdictional expertise in the corporate commercial practice, mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, international finance and investment management, venture capital, and tech. Throughout his career, Yousef worked with sovereign entities, financial institutions, and international businesses across the GCC.

Prior to joining Al Tamimi & Company, Yousef was the Legal Affairs Manager of a venture capital group with operations spanning the Middle East, Portugal, the US, and the Cayman Islands with interests in key sectors such as Fintech, Construction, Logistics, Healthcare, Online Commerce, and Food and Beverage. Yousef was an in-house counsel to the Kuwait Investment Authority, and received his training at the International Counsel Bureau.

  • Advised KIA as in house counsel on the Divestment Program of the Kuwait General Reserve Fund in relation to high value equities in 7 blue-chip listed companies in MENA (overall dispositions valued $9 billion).
  • Part of the team acting as local counsel to KAMCO Investment Company in the acquisition of Global Investment House (Investment Banking Firm with USD 3.1 billion in AUM) in 2018 and thereby creating the largest asset manager in MENA.
  • Lead counsel in respect of the acquisition of Fahad Al Jazeera Delivery (Kuwait’s largest consumer delivery logistics provider) by a private purchaser at a confidential value.
  • Part of the team acting as local counsel to Kuwait Finance House in respect of the 2018 Sukuk Programme of $3 billion.
  • Part of the team advising Delivery Hero GmbH in its acquisition of Carriage (GCC online food delivery service) in 2017 at a value of USD 200 million.
  • Part of the team advising Shamal Az-Zour Al Oula on its IPO in Kuwait Boursa of shares valuing $160 million.
  • Managing all legal affairs pertaining to the incorporation, operations, fundraising, corporate finance, and corporate structuring of 6 startups under the umbrella of The Taken Seat Group in multiple GCC jurisdictions.
  • Participated in advising public entities, investors, and project companies on various matters, including project finance, construction and engineering procurement, and operation and maintenance, concerning the following PPPs (all costs are confidential, but each estimated to be around few billion USD by 2030):

−Dhaman Health Assurance Project for the provision of healthcare to 3.5 million expats in Kuwait.

−Shamal Az-Zour al Oula Water Desalination and Electricity Generation Project, which will provide 17% of Kuwait’s electricity needs.

−Um Al Hayman Wastewater Treatment Project.

−South Jahra Labour City Project, which will provide housing for 50,000 low wageworkers in Kuwait.
