Biography
Obay is an Associate within the Employment practice in the Egypt Office.
He recently joined the firm after a stint as an Associate at Incept Legal, focusing on cross-jurisdictional team moves and data protection disputes in Dubai and Cairo.
Prior, he spent a significant tenure as a Junior Associate at Adsero – Ragy Soliman and Partners, a leading firm where he handled high-profile, multimillion-dollar international litigation and arbitration cases and numerous labor disputes.
He started his career at Shehata and Partners, where he transitioned from an intern to a Junior Associate, gaining extensive exposure to corporate licensing, regulatory compliance, and labor regulations in the Arab Republic of Egypt
Recent Experience
- Coordinated cross-border legal strategies with international counsel on complex multi-jurisdictional matters, including team moves, Data Subject Access Requests, and diplomatic notification processes for international appeals.
- Represented clients before the Dubai Centre for Amicable Dispute Settlement and Egyptian courts, including oral advocacy before the Court of Appeal, Court of First Instance, and Ministry of Justice Experts Office, with support to senior counsel at the Court of Cassation.
- Advised high-profile individuals on post-termination entitlements under UAE law and conducted internal investigations to ensure compliance with UAE labor regulations and corporate governance frameworks.
- Developed regulatory-compliant remote employment frameworks for Dubai-based companies establishing workforce operations in Egypt.
- Drafted and negotiated diverse commercial instruments, including bilingual contracts, SAFE agreements, Share Transfer Agreements, and Extraordinary General Meeting documentation.
- Managed GAFI licensing and incorporation procedures; authored legal opinions on corporate bylaws, SPA tax indemnities, and insurance regulations.
- Co-authored a published comprehensive guide on labor regulations in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
