Biography

Leila Mustafa is an associate in the banking and finance department at Al Tamimi & Company. She has a range of experience in all aspects of banking and finance law, and has represented parties on various sides of transactions, including government, sponsors/consortiums, project finance lenders and borrowers. She has particular expertise in corporate lending, project finance, Islamic finance, and real estate finance.

Prior to joining the firm, Leila was a banking and finance associate based in a leading London firm. Since joining Al Tamimi & Company, Leila has been involved in a variety of transactions in the Middle East including Islamic finance transactions, project finance, real estate finance and transactional lending.

  • Advised the sponsors in the multi-fuel conventional waste-to-energy plant in Sharjah.
  • Acted as sponsors lead local counsel in respect of the acquisition of ADNOC Refining’s waste management assets.
  • Advised the sponsors on the Kom Ombo 200 MW PV project in Kom Ombo, Egypt.
  • Acted on behalf of several major UAE Bank’s in preparing their Islamic finance agreements and advising on Sharia compliant structures.
  • Acted on behalf of financial service providers in obtaining licences from the Securities and Commodities Authority.
  • Represented lenders as lead local counsel in providing financing to petroleum companies.
  • Advising overseas financial service providers on the promotion of financial products and services in the UAE.
  • Advising on loans for acquisition, construction, development, and refurbishment of real estate assets.
