Dr. Bashayer Al-Majed is a Professor of Law at Kuwait University, and a Visiting Fellow at Oxford, teaching Civil and Contract Law. Her expertise spans a broad range of legal fields, including Contract Law, Business Law, Banking Law and Financial Regulation, Public Law, Oil and Energy Law, Intellectual Property Law, Insurance Law, Labour Law, Legal Theory, Civil Law, and Medical Law.

Dr. Bashayer was the first female Senior Advisor to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) at the World Bank. She also served as the first and youngest female Advisor to the Speaker of Kuwait’s National Assembly, where she shaped landmark policies in judicial independence and gender law reform.

Dr. Al Majed is a member of several prestigious international organisations, including the International Bar Association, the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, and Chatham House, and actively collaborates with governments, NGOs, and international institutions on legal reform, education policy, and sustainable governance.

Additionally, Dr. Bashayer is an experienced, award-winning, public speaker, with a strong presence at both academic conferences and on international television, with a strong interest in politics, constitutional , legal economics, humanitarian issues and law reforms. She has published articles in a range of academic journals and international broadsheets.

In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Al Majed has received several international honours, including the International Muslim of the Year Award at the British Muslim Awards and recognition as the Most Influential Woman in International Speaking.
