Biography

Alex Kitaev is an associate in the banking and finance department at Al Tamimi & Company, and has previously worked as a banking and finance associate at a Magic Circle law firm.

He has extensive experience advising on a wide range of financing transactions — both secured and unsecured, conventional and Islamic — representing a range of clients, including banks, aircraft lessors, airlines and major CIS, Middle East and international companies.

Alex specialises in general lending and asset finance, and also advises financial institutions on banking regulatory matters, financial services, securities markets, and general corporate issues.

  • Advising an international bank on an unsecured ECA covered term loan to a listed company in the Middle East
  • Counselling an international bank on an unsecured financing to an African multilateral development bank
  • Acting for a major European bank as coordinating mandated lead arranger and other lenders in relation to a €600m revolving credit facility to a major worldwide steel producer
  • Assisting various international and regional (KSA, Qatar, Oman, UAE) banks and corporates on amendments to the existing conventional and Islamic loan documentation in connection with LIBOR transition
  • Supporting a project company in connection with a secured multi-billion-dollar financing from major state banks in the CIS to develop a mineral fertilizer plant
  • Representing a group of regional banks (Middle East) on a conventional and Islamic financing of nine Boeing 737-8 aircraft to be leased to a major airline based in the Middle East
  • Acting for a major regional bank (Middle East) on a conventional financing in connection with novation of one Boeing 787-8 aircraft on lease to a major airline based in the Middle East
  • Assisting one of the largest CIS leasing companies on a shipping finance under PDP purchase agreement for vessel construction and bareboat charter
