Pro Bono Cases

The External Pro Bono Assistance initiative aims to support individuals and community members by providing legal assistance and legal advice on a pro bono basis for cases requiring support and assistance.

The initiative receives direct requests for pro bono legal services from individuals and clients seeking legal support through direct contact with the firm, outreach initiatives, or referrals received through community connections and networks. This initiative differs from cases referred through governmental entities, as the requests are received directly by the firm and assessed internally.

The initiative is intended to support individuals who do not have the financial ability to obtain legal assistance generally, rather than individuals who are solely unable to afford the firm’s standard legal fees. Requests are assessed based on the individual’s circumstances, the nature of the legal matter, and the firm’s available capacity and resources.

Upon review of the request, assessment of the legal matter, and consideration of lawyer availability and capacity, cases may be submitted for approval to the relevant committee. Once approval is obtained, the client may be onboarded and legal services provided with legal fees waived on a pro bono basis.

The initiative may support a wide range of legal matters and requests for legal assistance or advice, depending on the nature of the case, the firm’s available capacity, and the suitability of the request for pro bono support.

Through the initiative, legal professionals provide guidance, representation, and legal support to help individuals better understand their legal standing, rights, obligations, and available legal pathways.

The project aims to improve access to legal assistance, support vulnerable and underserved individuals where possible, and contribute toward responsible community-focused legal support and access to justice.
