Connecting Continents, Shaping Law
This month, our focus turns to Africa and Asia, two regions reshaping global growth and investment. From Egypt’s ongoing legal and economic reforms and the strengthening of UAE–Moroccan relations, to the rise of Korean investment across the Middle East, this issue highlights the developments driving change across these markets.
We also explore the UAE’s role as a bridge between regions – a hub for private wealth management, dispute resolution, and cross-border collaboration, connecting businesses and investors across Africa and Asia. The articles in this edition offer practical insights into how these shifts are influencing trade, regulation, and market confidence across the wider region.
2025 is set to be a game-changer for the MENA region, with legal and regulatory shifts from 2024 continuing to reshape its economic landscape. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Iraq, Qatar, and Bahrain are all implementing groundbreaking reforms in sustainable financing, investment laws, labor regulations, and dispute resolution. As the region positions itself for deeper global integration, businesses must adapt to a rapidly evolving legal environment.
Our Eyes on 2025 publication provides essential insights and practical guidance on the key legal updates shaping the year ahead—equipping you with the knowledge to stay ahead in this dynamic market.
With the 2011 IBA Conference in Dubai still fresh in our minds, we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended our IBA events for taking the time out of your busy schedules to join us and for your continued support of the firm.
We are very proud of the success of each event we hosted and are delighted with the turnout at our ‘Arabian Nights’ cocktail reception held on the lawns of Jumeirah Beach Hotel, in front of the picturesque Burj Al Arab. With over 900 guests in attendance, predominately from international firms, the reception was a resounding success and was an excellent opportunity for our lawyers to develop fruitful relationships with lawyers from a range of jurisdictions across the world. The event also doubled as an opportunity for us to officially launch our new logo and brand – we do hope you like it. We are pleased to include a collage of some of the photographs taken on the evening for you to enjoy.
We look forward to building upon our existing relationships, and getting to know those of you who we met for the first time over the coming months. We will of course be in Dublin for next year’s IBA conference and look forward to catching up with many of you there.
Wishing you all the very best for a happy, safe and successful 2012.
