Biography
Sohaila is a UK qualified Senior Counsel with over 15 years’ experience practising in the UK, UAE and Bahrain.
Sohaila started her career working as a banking lawyer with magic circle law firms and has over the years gained diverse and broad experience in many fields including corporate, commercial, governance, employment, regulatory and real estate. She has also had the opportunity to work as in-house senior counsel in the energy and real estate sectors in Bahrain allowing her to gain a wealth of experience and a unique perspective.
Sohaila has worked for a multitude of clients including both domestic and international private and public companies and has advised on some of the most significant projects in Bahrain both in-house and while working in private practice.
Sohaila qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 2006 whilst working for a UK magic circle law firm. She later moved to the Middle East working for another magic circle law firm in the UAE prior to moving to Bahrain where she worked for top tier regional and international law firms. Prior to joining Al Tamimi & Company in 2022, Sohaila worked as in-house senior legal counsel for a national energy company.
Sohaila is an award-winning author for her contributions to LexisNexis and regularly participates in training and mentoring programmes.
Recent Experience
- Advising on a multi-billion-dollar transformation project in the oil and gas industry including on matters relating to corporate, governance and compliance.
- Advising on a first of its kind mega real estate project expanding to hotels, commercial and residential real estate and other recreational facilities.
- Advising Al Mana Group with their 100% acquisition of shares of a steel company in Bahrain.
- Advising Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) on their acquisition of 36.6% of the shares in the Bahrain Car Parks Company, a publicly listed company on the Bahrain Bourse.
- Advising Thadamon Capital in relation to investments in real estate portfolio in Bahrain.
- Advising Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) on their acquisition of H Al Dhaen Boats.
- Advising Saudi Tabreed on the financing and extension of a district cooling plant based in Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
