Biography

Alex Kim is an accomplished lawyer; his 25 years spanning in-house counsel roles at major Korean construction companies as well as top-tier Korean Law firms ,advising clients on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate law, M&A, project finance, construction, litigation, and arbitration. His expertise, in particular, hones in on the area of international construction claims and disputes.

In 2019, Alex authored the highly regarded second edition of his book, “International Construction Contract Law and Practice – Focusing on FIDIC Contracts,” which has become essential reading for international construction law practitioners in Korea. Since 2018, he has been recognized as a construction expert by Who’s Who Legal, a testament to his deep knowledge and experience in this field. He is a sought-after speaker on construction and arbitration topics and has presented at numerous domestic and international seminars. He also spent eight months in 2019 as a visiting scholar at the prestigious Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, Germany, where he advanced his knowledge in the area of comparative law.

Alex is an active member of the SIAC User’s Councils and the KCAB arbitration panel, reflecting his commitment to advancing the practice of arbitration and dispute resolution in the industry.
