Read NowAmr is a seasoned mergers and acquisitions specialist with over two decades of expertise in business and corporate legal counseling. As the Head of the Mergers & Acquisition team at ALC Alieldean Weshahi & Partners since 2016, he has successfully structured, negotiated, and executed a range of transactions, demonstrating his prowess in the field.
His notable achievements include acting as sell-side legal counsel on landmark deals, such as the sale of Asec Minya and Asec Ready Mix to Misr Qena Cement, valued at approximately EGP 1 billion. Additionally, he played a crucial role in advising Qalaa Holdings (Citadel Capital) on the sale of Sphinx Glass to Saudi Construction Products Holding Company (CPC) for USD 180 million.
Amr has an extensive track record of serving as buy-side and sell- side legal counsel, representing prominent entities like Ahly Capital Holding (the investment arm of National Bank of Egypt) in relation to it strategic acquisitions in healthcare and non-banking financial services sectors, EFG Hermes in relation to its acquisition of Tanmeyah for Micro Financing Services and the acquisition of MENA Submarine Cables for USD 90 million.
Before his current role, Amr served as the General Counsel for Qalaa Holdings from 2009 to 2015, contributing significantly to the company’s success. He played a key role in various transactions, such as the equity raising of the Egyptian Refinery Company, a USD 4.3 billion greenfield petroleum refinery, and the acquisition of Rift Valley Railways of Kenya and Uganda.
Throughout his career, Amr has demonstrated a deep understanding of corporate law, stock exchange and capital market regulations, and commercial agreements. Fluent in Arabic, English, and French, he has provided legal support on a global scale. Amr’s commitment to excellence and his strategic legal counsel have consistently played a pivotal role in the success of the organizations he has been associated with.
Amr holds a License en Droit from Cairo University, as well as a Maitrise in International Business Law from Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne (Cairo). His academic background, combined with his extensive professional experience, underscores his expertise in the field of mergers and acquisitions.
