Read the full editionOn Saturday, 21 April Al Tamimi sponsored the 13th Annual Harvard Arab World Conference (HAWC) in Beirut. The theme of this year’s HAWC was “Region Rising!”, which explored initiatives across the region that are currently reshaping the face of the Arab world. The HAWC had several panels that brought together multi-disciplinary leaders to discuss the region’s future in healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, policy, and law. Ahmad Saleh, Partner and Head of Patents & Designs (R&D and Innovations), Al Tamimi & Company joined the thought-provoking discussion where he shared his thoughts on Arab health – advancing healthcare across the region and innovation.
The conference also consisted of the HAWC Start-up Competition which gathered several Middle East-based start-ups to compete for a chance to win over $20,000 in cash and in-kind services. The start-ups represented a number of industries including healthcare, fintech, consumer tech and education. Al Tamimi & Company were pleased to award the first prize to The Spike App, a mobile assistant that helps diabetics better manage their diabetes and the runner up award to FabricAid, a creative model that optimizes the fabric waste value chain through smart collection.
The conference was a great success and addressed how the region and its people can harness its collective power to drive positive change and how the rising generation of Arabs can leverage current and emerging resources to inspire transformation.
