Biography

Bilaal is an associate at Al Tamimi & Company, working between the Corporate Commercial and Corporate Structuring practice groups in the Kuwait Office.

Bilaal obtained his BA (Hons) and Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta; he was called to the Alberta Bar in 2021, and joined our firm in 2022. Bilaal has experience advising and representing clients in complex corporate commercial, employment, and government matters, many of which were contentious.

Bilaal’s particular strength is his ability to draft complex legal documents including pleadings, proposals, applications, affidavits, agreements, etc. Bilaal is bilingual in English and French, and conversant in Arabic.

  • Handled claims under the Federal (Canada) and Alberta business corporation acts, including derivative claims and oppression remedy;
  • Assisted with preparing a complex emergency injunction to stay a government order pertaining to COVID-19 regulations;
  • Advised on a pro-bono matter involving a complex emergency injunction for a status quo order for a client in the banking/finance sector;
  • Advised an Indigenous First Nation on an employment matter involving a high-ranking employee.
  • Handled insurance defence matters on behalf of various major Canadian insurance companies;
  • Assisted with matters involving fraud and theft; and
  • Appeared for and advised clients on criminal matters at the Provincial Court and Alberta Court of King’s Bench.
