The International Bar Association has formed an Islamic Finance Sub-Committee to organise, coordinate and promote Islamic finance training and initiatives in the region and beyond.
Jody Waugh, partner at Al Tamimi & Company, heads this Sub-Committee as its Chair. The Sub-Committee proposes to organise and hold various IBA conferences and workshops on Islamic finance, with the first tentatively proposed for December, 2010.
Waugh said that the focus of the Sub-Committee will be on addressing current issues associated with Islamic finance. He also noted that the proposed sessions will be a great precursor to the IBA’s annual conference which will be held in Dubai in 2011.
