Al Tamimi & Company announces partner promotions across the Middle East

Ammar Haykal (Litigation), Tara Marlow (Hospitality), David Yates (Technology, Media & Telecommunications), Hesham Al Hamoud (Corporate Commercial) and Graham Lovell (Corporate Commercial) were all promoted bringing the Al Tamimi partnership number to 41 across the region.

Ammar Haykal is based in the Sharjah office in the UAE and is a litigation and commercial lawyer with over 14 years experience. He has advised clients on litigious matters related to banking, property, commercial, civil and criminal where he has gained an extensive understanding and knowledge of the laws and court processes and procedures in the UAE. Most recently, Ammar led an arbitration proceeding worth 1.47 billion dirhams – one of the largest proceedings to be held in the Northern Emirates.

Tara Marlow has a strong background in hospitality and property law with experience as both in-house general counsel and in private practice. She has advised property developers, financial institutions, investors, landlords and tenants on all areas of commercial property and development law and has advised on the development, operation and asset management of various hotel portfolios spread across the MENA region. Her hands-on commercial experience gained from her general counsel role at one of the UAE’s biggest hotel developers along with her private practice property experience, allows her to fully understand our client’s business goals and provide commercially focused advice.

David Yates is based in the Dubai office however works with the team across all regional offices as head of the TMT department. Admitted in Australia, David has considerable experience in litigious and commercial work and he brings a diverse range of skills to drafting and negotiating. David has worked with some very high profile clients providing advice in technology and transactions; media and transactions, commercial IP transactions and advisory, data protection and privacy and ecommerce. His promotion to partnership reinforces the firm’s commitment to building and developing the TMT practice that was established early 2011.

Hehsam Al Homoud is the head of Corporate Commercial in the firm’s Saudi Arabia office. A Saudi qualified lawyer, Hesham has extensive commercial and corporate experience, with emphasis on mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and equity and debt private placement as well as advising in relation to Sahriah Law. He has also developed extensive experience in dispute resolution and has a diversified practice in advising and representing local and international clients before the Saudi courts and other adjudicatory bodies.

Glenn Lovell is also based in the Saudi Arabia office and has worked on a wide variety of matters predominantly relating to transactional and advisory work in the office’s banking/finance department and corporate/commercial department.  Glenn regularly advises clients on the Foreign Investment Law including the available types of investment vehicles and activities open for foreign investment.  He has considerable experience in providing advice regarding cross border lending, capital market and investment fund activity and joint venture arrangements.
