Practice in Iraq

Al Tamimi & Company´s Maritime, Trade & Insurance practice is at the heart of the dynamic transportation nexus of the Arabian Gulf. The practice provides a full range of legal services to the aviation, maritime, trade and insurance sectors from cargo claims and ship arrests to complex oil pollution crisis management.

We act for some of the leading regional and international institutions in the shipping sector, including banks, P&I Clubs, insurers, ship owning and chartering companies as well as cargo interests and airlines.

Whether as court advocates or legal consultants, our specialist maritime lawyers have a wealth of exposure in handling the most complex transportation disputes as they regularly arise in a region that boasts both a maritime tradition and a significant growth in commercial diversity particularly in the aerospace sector. We also provide alternative dispute resolution solutions and aggressive litigation in the courts when necessary. We advise on the authorisation and licensing of new companies, statutory obligations concerning reserve funds and reinsurance.

The firm has in-depth knowledge and extensive local and worldwide contacts in the insurance industry since many of our lawyers have served as in-house counsel for multinational insurance companies abroad. The firm handles the requirements of insurance companies, brokers, underwriters and intermediaries in both general and maritime fields. We are regularly called upon to advise clients on hull and cargo policies and P&I insurance claims as well as upon policies covering every conceivable kind of risk including credit, professional liability, corporate liability, product liability, construction risks, banker´s blanket bonds, property and personal injury.
