Dalal is an Associate and one of the longest serving members of Tamimi’s Arbitration team. A Kuwaiti lawyer and native Arabic speaker, since securing an English law degree and LLM (in international comparative commercial law) from SOAS (University of London) she has devoted her career to international commercial dispute resolution, practicing first in Lebanon and then in Dubai.
A specialist in cross-border disputes involving English and Arab laws, she regularly undertakes advisory work in relation to a wide range of commercial disputes, with an emphasis on shareholder disputes, hospitality, and disputes arising in the banking and finance sectors. She has experience of cases conducted under the auspices of the ICC, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA, DIAC, CRCICA and the GCC Arbitration Centre.
She has published widely and is the author of the Kuwait Chapter for Commercial Arbitration 2017 in the Global Arbitration Review (GAR). She is part of the legal task force for the establishment of the Djibouti arbitration centre, and in 2016 she served as Member of the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Arab Arbitration. She is an associate member of the CIArb, and has experience appearing before the Kuwaiti Courts.
- Currently representing a Kuwaiti bank in defence of USD 66m claim brought by administrators of failed Bahraini bank. London seated LCIA arbitration, before Tribunal of three ex-Court of Appeal judges. Complex issues of English law concerning debt, trust and set-off (on-going).
- Representing a DIFC entity in AED I00m claim against master developer of a mixed-used project for failure to complete works. DIFC seated arbitration before sale arbitrator, Victor Leginsky, conducted under the auspices of the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Rules.
- Representing public joint stock company in defence against minority shareholder in an alleged oral agreement to sell back shares. UAE seated arbitration governed by DIAC Rules (tribunal chaired by Nicholas Fletcher).
- Representing hotel operator in a shareholder dispute relating to hotel in Rwanda. Liaised with Rwandan lawyers to secure injunction preventing operator from being forced out of the property.
