Omar Obeidat, Partner and Head of Al Tamimi’s IP/IT Department, was re-elected to the Board of Directors of the Brand Owners Protection Group (BPG).
The BPG, the largest anti-counterfeit not for profit organization in the region, held its Annual General Meeting at the Fairmont Hotel on December 15, 2010 and elected its new Board of Directors, consisting of representatives of Al Tamimi & Company, Nestle, Ford, Nissan, BAT, Nokia, and Rouse & Co. During the annual meeting, which was attended by guests from Dubai Customs, Dubai Municipality and Dubai Department of Economic Development, Omar Obeidat gave a presentation to the delegates about the challenging areas in the IP Enforcement arena and addressed, to the officials, the ideas of BPG members in addressing these challenges. The BPG is a group of world leading brand owners and legal consultants who are alarmed at the continuous illicit replication of genuine goods and interested in the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights. Based in Dubai, the BPG was founded in 2005 and carries out activities throughout the GCC member states and Yemen, and has engaged in many workshops aimed at training Government officers and enforcement agencies on anti-counterfeiting
