The Australian Arbitration Option, held on 31 October 2012 at the DIFC Conference Centre, provided an opportunity for senior government officials and eminent jurists to inform key decision makers from corporations and major law firms involved in international trade that Australia was an attractive business dispute resolution destination.
Essam Al Tamimi, Senior Partner at Al Tamimi & Company chaired this forum. He stated that ‘We were provided with clear and compelling reasons why Australia, through the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) is a viable option for global companies in the Gulf region who use international arbitration as a means of resolving disputes.”
Leading international arbitrator and Chairman of ACICA, Professor Doug Jones presented at the seminar which was attended by over 80 delegates.
The forum was the first initiative arising from the MOU signed in May 2012 between the DIFC and New South Wales, Australia’s largest state economy.
