The IBA Arab Lawyers Forum was held in Casablanca on the 11th of February and was attended by over 100 lawyers from 18 countries. The event was a result of an initiative undertaken by Essam Al Tamimi, Senior Partner, Al Tamimi & Company to bring together the legal community and to bridge the gap between Arabic lawyers and the International Bar Association (IBA).
The Forum was the perfect platform to gather prominent lawyers from Arabic countries and the IBA, including David W. Rivkin; IBA President, Tim Hughes; Deputy Executive Director at the IBA and Essam Al Tamimi, Senior Partner Al Tamimi & Company.
Essam Al Tamimi, and Ibtissem Lassoued, Partner Financial Crime moderated one of the panel discussions and covered some of the key topics:
Challenges faced by law firms: from setting up to running the firm, and achieving: international recognition;
Cross border work in the Arab world;
International law and the Arab world;
Open discussion with senior practitioners: sharing experiences and exchanging views: on how lawyers may benefit from the IBA.
The event was commended by all participating lawyers as very successful and insightful.
