Al Tamimi’s Dispute Resolution team delivered a well attended seminar that took place on 25 November 2013 at the Ritz Carlton DIFC. Senior Assosicates Naief Yahia, Tarek Shrayh and Zeeshan Dhar were joined by Partner and Head of Litigation (Abu Dhabi) Mohammed Al Marzouqi on the panel of speakers. Partner and Head of Litigation DIFC Rita Jaballah provided an introduction for the morning seminar, which provided valuable information on the important issues and common pitfalls that arise when entering into contracts in the UAE from a UAE and DIFC Courts' perspective. Naief addressed the issues surrounding contract formation and execution formalities under UAE law while Zeeshan elaborated on the contract formation and termination under DIFC law. Tarek provided a comparative analysis on the governing law and jurisdiction provisions between the UAE and DIFC Courts. Mohammed discussed the enforceability of limitation of liability and liquidated damages provisions. The attendees actively participated in an interactive Q&A session after the seminar which was then followed by an open discussion on all topics related to making and breaking contracts in the UAE.
