The Kuwait office of Al Tamimi & Company and KDIPA, the Kuwait Direct Investment & Promotion Authority, held a joint seminar on 9 March 2015 at the Emirates Towers in Dubai. The seminar attracted both large multinational organizations and foreign investors keen to learn of the benefits of investing directly into companies in Kuwait under the new Direct Investment Law.
Alex Saleh, Partner & Head of Office for Al Tamimi & Company in Kuwait, presented a detailed analysis on the various investment entities that are allowed to obtain an investment license to own 100% of the capital of a company in Kuwait, the rules and procedures for the submission and registration of the application process to obtain an investment license, and the various incentives and exemptions offered to approved applicants under the Direct Investment Law. The presentation discussed different aspects concerning how the new Direct Investment Law differed from the existing one and the opportunities it granted medium and large organizations alike.
Alex was joined by two representatives of KDIPA, Sheikh Abdullah Al Sabah, Head of Licensing & Investment and Amr Wageeh, Senior Legal Counsel. They provided an overview on the goals and services of KDIPA to promote and support direct investment by both local and foreign investors in order to meet the objectives of Kuwait's development plan to transform Kuwait into a world class financial and commercial centre.
