On 6 October Al Tamimi led a breakfast briefing at the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) which examined the free zone's newly launched employment regulations. This was the first briefing in a series of 3 examining the implications for businesses operating in the ADGM and featured representatives from ADGM.
Partner Ivor McGettigan examined how the ADGM creates a familiar employment environment for international banks and financial institutions. He provided an overview of the key points in the ADGM employment regulations, non-compete clauses, termination within ADGM, and took a look at the ADGM Employment Tribunal as well as transfer of employment from onshore to ADGM and associated issues.
Representatives from ADGM were available to speak to attendees in what was a lively and informative Q&A session. The next two briefings will examine the operation of regulated and non-regulated entities within ADGM and the opportunities presented by this new free zone.
