The lawyers in our Banking & Finance department have wide experience in both the UAE and working for international law firms and financial institutions abroad and are fully conversant with all aspects of banking and finance law in the UAE. We provide advice, for example, on banking regulation and supervision within the Gulf region, the underwriting and syndication of loans, debt recovery, foreign exchange contracts, ISDA and other derivative transactions, setting up of funds and other collective investment vehicles, finance leasing arrangements, secured commercial lending, trade, project and corporate financing arrangements, equity and loan finance and the taking, enforcement and realisation of security interests. The department is actively involved with the structuring and drafting of Islamic Finance products for several leading local and international banks. In addition, the team acts for and provides legal advice to clients setting-up in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and to clients listing on the Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX).
Legal 500 states in their 2006 edition that “the team [has a] solid understanding and very good experience in respect of Islamic Finance. Turnaround times and efficiency are the best in Dubai”. Furthermore, Chambers Global affirms that the head of the Banking & Finance department is “extremely responsive and knowledgeable,” yet “doesn’t put on any airs and graces”.
