Practice in Iraq

In the commercial world, arbitration has become the preferred method for resolving conflicts expeditiously and confidentially. Nevertheless, arbitration proceedings are a feasible option only if your rights are entrusted to experienced lawyers with considerable experience in this field.

Our lawyers are familiar with all relevant provisions in UAE legislation concerning arbitration as well as with the International Chamber of Commerce Rules of Conciliation and Arbitration, the UK Arbitration Act of 1996 and all international Conventions on the subject ratified by the UAE.

Our lawyers have participated in many UAE and international arbitrations, involving commercial and maritime disputes, both as counsel for one or other of the parties and as arbitrators. We have worked closely with the AGCC. Arbitration Center and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the establishment of the latter´s ´Rules of Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration´. Additionally, we retain membership in many international associations, which seek to foster the use of arbitration as a viable alternative dispute resolution mechanism.

Summary
Arbitration is really starting to become a popular system of dispute resolution in the UAE. Particularly as a result of the extraordinary construction boom in the emirate the technical services of qualified arbitrators are being increasingly sought. The Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) in the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry building in Deira has been operating for several years now and recently the Dubai International Financial Centre Arbitration centre opened its doors for the first time in the Gate building in the DIFC.
