Sydene trained with the Pretoria law firm Matlala Incorporated and was admitted as a lawyer in the High Court of South Africa in May 1994. Sydene was appointed a director in 1996 and remained with the firm until December 2003 when she joined Al Tamimi and Company as a Legal Consultant and was appointed a Partner in June 2008.

Sydene specialises in property development transactions and has conceptualized both freehold and leasehold master community schemes for various master developers in Dubai and other Emirates. She has particular experience in advising on commercial, retail and residential sale and lease agreements, ground development agreements and hospitality and leisure transactions. Sydene has advised both owners and hotel operators on hotel management agreements and related documentation and a rental program scheme.
