Marcus Wallman is a Partner in the Corporate Commercial Department having practised in this area of law for 14 years. Since his graduation, Marcus has worked in private practice in South Australia, California and England and has gained qualification in all three jurisdictions. Marcus joined Al Tamimi & Company in May 2005 from Nabarro Nathanson, London where he had been working for the previous four years in their corporate department.
Marcus has advised many international companies on structuring options available to them that allow them to carry on business in Dubai and in the United Arab Emirates. Consequently, Marcus has advised on many M&A transactions and joint venture arrangements between foreign and Emirati individuals and entities as well as advising on agency and franchising arrangements entered into between foreign entities and local agents and franchisees. In particular, Marcus has advised both principals and agents on the impact of the UAE Commercial Agencies Law including the impact of changes made to that law in 2006. Marcus has also worked on a number of hotel management arrangements, advising both owners and managers. In addition, Marcus has structured a number of employee share option schemes and performance plans for local entities, such plans are becoming increasingly popular in the local market.
